2-Year Old Preschool Class
Our teachers strive to make your child feel comfortable. The teachers encourage children to learn new things each and everyday. The children are on the same daily schedule each day to give them structure. Children in this classroom do go outside as much as possible, of course weather permitting. Days that the children have to stay indoors teachers plan for indoor activities for small and large gross motor skills. This classroom has a daily circle time, craft time, centers, story time, and much much more. Teachers make learning fun for your young children.
3-Year Old Preschool Class
Our teachers in this classroom aim to teach children the necessary lifeskills that they will continue to use throughout their lives. The curriculum that is taught will cover a whole range of skills and information that will help the children with their transition into the 4 year old classroom. Children are assessed three times throughout the school year to give the parents and the teachers a guide on areas of success as well as areas to work on. Teachers create lesson plans for each day to ensure the day is planned and schedules are followed. This classroom is all about growing and learning for children. The class will have circle time, music & movement, physical activities, story time, weekly theme units, center play, arts & crafts, and so much more.
4&5 Year Old Classroom
Our teachers in this classroom build strong one on one relationships with their class. The teachers engage in many small group learning activities to prepare for kindergarten. Assessements are done in three times a year in this classroom, the results help teachers highlight the areas that children need to improve on before they head off to kindergarten. The children are surrounded with a loving, caring environment that gives them the ability to develop positive relationships with other classmates. Children in this class follow daily schedules. This group will work to master the alphabet, learn sight words, number recognition, and letter formation. Children engage in center, music and movement, outdoor/indoor play, puzzles, circle time, stories, and much more. The teachers focus on language, math, and the development of fine motor skills.
Before School / After School Program
Our teachers provide students who attend Smithsburg Elementary a before and after school program. The teachers provide children with daily homework help and engaging activities. Children are in a relaxed and comforable environment as they unwind from a day at school. We have indoor and outdoor activities for the children planned and teachers are along side the children connecting and supporting them.
